​Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces Celebrate Their Professional Holiday, President Visits Their Positions Near Bakhmut to Congratulate

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky visited the advanced positions of the Special Operations Forces in Bakhmut direction and congratulated Ukraine’s SOF operators on their professional holiday

That is according to a statement published on the official page of Ukraine’s SOF Command on Facebook.

“Bakhmut direction, advanced positions of the Special Operations Forces. Today, I am here to congratulate our warriors on their professional day, to honor their strength. I heard a commander's report, talked with the warriors. Very powerful, very effective. Thank you! Although I cannot tell the details about the current operations of the SSO, only when time passes. But the performance of tasks for the sake of Ukraine by you, guys, is truly heroic. Glory to the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine! Honor to you! ” the post cites congratilative words of Ukraine’s President to the warriors of the Special Operations Forces of the armed Forces of Ukraine.

The other post reads that the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky being in Donetsk region, talked with fighters, congratulated them on the Special Operations Forces Day, and also listened to a report from the commander of the Special Operations Forces, Brigadier General Viktor Khorenko, on the actions of the SOF warriors.

"The Ukrainian SOF did not let our country be occupied, Ukraine and everything we have: our identity, our life be destroyed. Thank you for the fact that even after 520 days of the very difficult full-scale war for our freedom and the lives of all of us, our children – the present and the future of our state – you are still strong," Ukraine’s President said congratulating the warriors.

Ukraine marks Special Operations Forces Day on July 29. The military holiday was initiated by a presidential decree on July 26, 2016. On the same day, the head of state signed a law that completed the creation process and determined the legal status of the Special Operations Forces.

The Special Operations Forces are a separate branch of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which consists of well-trained and motivated soldiers capable of conducting subversive activities behind enemy lines, organizing guerrilla warfare in occupied territories, freeing important hostages or capturing enemies.
