That is according to a statement of Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

“In the Yahidne-Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi sector, the enemy suffered significant losses, stopped active actions, and is now regrouping,” Syrskyi writes.

As the Commander states, russia’s 6th combined arms army and 1st tank army continue conducting offensive actions near the Kupiansk forest, Pershotravneve and Orlianske.

“The enemy is ramping up efforts to capture the dominating heights, seize Synkivka, and create favorable conditions for capturing Kupiansk,” Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi notes.

As the Commander of the Ground Forces infors, Ukraine’s Defense Forces are carrying out missions in a professional manner. Over the past week, Russia has lost 583 troops in the Kupiansk direction, namely 220 in killed and 358 injured. Five russian occupiers were taken prisoner.

Also, during this same period, the enemy lost 46 units of equipment in this direction, including 15 tanks and 25 armored fighting vehicles.

The 14th Mechanized Brigade "Prince Roman the Great" continues to destroy the enemies in the Kupyan direction

The commander emphasized that the operational situation is very dynamic and requires constant control and decision-making. According to him, he spent two days working in the brigades that maintain the defense in this direction.

"Despite the frenzied pressure of the enemy, our units courageously hold their positions. The enemy suffered significant losses in personnel and equipment," Oleksandr Sirskyi said.

He emphasized that determining the intentions of the enemy and anticipating his actions is one of the main tasks, and reported that a number of important decisions were made to increase the stability of the defense.

"On the ground, I listened to brigade commanders and group commanders about the state of affairs. After that, the commanders and I developed several options for further actions and determined the procedure for using our forces and means. A number of important decisions were made aimed at increasing the stability of our defense," Colonel-General Oleksandr Sirskyi said.

The city of Kupiansk, Kharkiv region, is one of the hottest spots on the frontlines of the russia-Ukraine war, as the city is an important logistics hub.
