Ukraine’s Embassy in Latvia Sends Bandvagn 202 Amphibious All-terrain Vehicles to the Ukrainian Military

The Embassy of Ukraine in Latvia together with the Latvian volunteer organization "SOS Aid to the Army of Ukraine" organized the shipment of Bandvagn 202 amphibious tracked all-terrain vehicles for the needs of the Defense Forces of Ukraine

This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine on its official account on Telegram.

The all-terrain vehicles were purchased in Norway thanks to donations from the Latvian community of Chicago and sent by the Embassy of Ukraine together with the Latvian volunteer organization "SOS Aid to the Army of Ukraine".

"All-terrain vehicles are designed for the transportation of personnel and equipment in snowy conditions and swampy terrain. The Bv202 can carry 10 soldiers and up to one ton of cargo," the diplomatic mission said.

The Ambassador of Ukraine, Anatoliy Kutsevol, expressed his gratitude to the Latvian society and all the caring citizens abroad, whose donations helped to provide the Ukrainian defenders with the necessary equipment for combat operations.

The Bandvagn 202 is an articulated tracked all-terrain vehicle developed by Bolinder-Munktell, a Volvo subsidiary, specifically for the Swedish army. The front module houses the engine and gearbox, the driver and commander are also located there, and up to eight military personnel were accommodated in the second compartment. The all-terrain vehicle is specially designed for driving on snow and swampy terrain. Has no weapons. Speed - up to 35 km / h, on the water - 7 km / h. The movement is carried out by rewinding the tracks.

The production of all-terrain vehicles started in 1964 and continued until 1981, when it was replaced by the Hägglunds Bandvagn 206.
