​Ukraine’s Air Force Preparing For the Transition to Western Equipment

The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine prepare for changes in equipment. USA decided to give Ukraine $100 millions for the training of pilots in 2023. There is also new modifications in studying plans at the Air Force university

According to colonel Yuriy Ignat, speaker of Ukraine's Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in the interview for ArmyInform, the brunch is ready to start trainings. Aviators expect the transition to western aircrafts such as F-15, F-16 or F-18 and surface-to-air missile systems (SAM).

Speaker emphasised on a great need in multi-functional fighters. This type of aircraft has modern radars, missiles and electronic warfare systems. It can hit air and ground targets, as well as cruise missiles.

There was also a perspective of increasing the number of attack aircrafts like A-10, but it wasn’t a top priority, Yuriy Ignat stated.

Moreover, in another interview for ArmyInform, the speaker of the Ukraine’s Air Force Command said that the Ivan Kozhedub National Air Force University was changing studying plans according to conditions. “Future officers are being trained on a battle field, not in the classes” said Yuriy Ignat. New types of weapons, aircraft equipment and surface-to-air missile systems are included in the new plan because of future potential rearmament.

In addition, colonel stated that Ukraine received spare parts not only for aircrafts like MiG-29 but also for C-300 SAM.

As Defense Express reported, Ukraine’s Air Force hinted that not only MiG-29s aircraft were used to launch HARM missiles Ukraine got from USA.
