The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) expect to receive the first F-16s this year, and active training is currently underway for pilots, technicians, and other personnel, along with other processes

The Netherlands has halted discussions on the potential sale of six F-16 fighter jets to Draken International, with which the country signed an agreement in 2021.

Most importantly, these six aircraft will increase the number of those machines that the Netherlands is already preparing to transfer to Ukraine. This will bring the total number of these airplanes the country is preparing for delivery to Ukraine to 24.

The Netherlands will provide six more F-16 fighter jets, Ukraine’s Defense Ministry said on Monday in a post on platform X.

No time frame for the delivery was provided. Dutch Defense Minister Kajsa Ollongren said on X that Ukrainian aerial superiority is “essential for countering russian aggression.”

In addition to the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, and Norway have also pledged to transfer F-16s to Ukraine.
