Despite the war, Ukraine continues to develop and improve its artillery capabilities

Despite the constant russian attack, Ukrainian manufacturers have not only launched the serial production of the 155-mm 2S22 Bohdana self-propelled howitzers, which is so much needed by army, but also continue to improve them. This was stated by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on its Facebook page.

Ukrainian artillerymen are constantly giving their feedback on this self-propelled howitzer. According to their feedback, some changes in the product are constantly being made. This not only improves the combat effectiveness of the 2S22 Bohdana, but also makes the use of this howitzer more comfortable and convenient for its crew.

Artillerymen say that the 2S22 Bohdana version of 2022 and those ones they receive now are completely different.

Ukrainian self-propelled howitzer has also worthy proved itself in terms of combat effectiveness.

"With the old 2A65 Msta-BSoviet howitzer, it usually took us two shots to warm up the barrel and adjust, so only the third shot hit the target. This is assuming that old Soviet shells do not fail, while 2S22 Bohdana usually needs only the first shell to warm up the barrel. The second and subsequent ones just hit the target," the battery commander says.

Another big advantage is Ukrainian production of howitzers. According to Ukrainian militaries, each gun of the battery could fire 100 or more shells a day during fierce battles. And ability to quickly replace a worn-out barrel in such intensive combat operations is a considerable advantage of Ukrainian self-propelled howitzer.

Bohdana is the first Ukrainian self-propelled howitzer of the NATO caliber, which was developed by Ukrainian defense industry specialists. Development of the first 2S22 Bohdana 155mm wheel ACS started in 2016 in Ukraine. The howitzer was mounted on the KrAZ-63221 chassis with an armored cab. According to the developer, the firing range with a conventional projectile is up to 40 km.
