The losses severely undermine russia's long-range detection and response capabilities in temporarily occupied Donbas

Ukraine's Defense Intelligence continues to pressure russia's air defense network in temporarily occupied Donbas, carrying out another high-precision drone strike against some of Moscow's most valuable radar and missile systems. In the early hours of November 29, 2025, operators from the Defense Intelligence conducted a coordinated attack targeting key components of russia's long-range air defense umbrella.

According to the Defense Intelligence, the strike package successfully hit russian 9A83 launcher belonging to the S-300V surface-to-air missile system. The launcher was reportedly on active combat duty at the moment of impact, underscoring both the timing and tactical accuracy of the operation.

The loss of such equipment not only undermines russia's ability to engage aerial threats but also disrupts the layered structure of its frontline air defense architecture.

In addition to the launcher, Ukrainian drones destroyed two 1L125 Niobiy-SV radar stations, high-value assets designed to detect aircraft, drones, and missiles at long ranges. Each Niobiy-SV system represents a costly and technologically advanced element of russia's air surveillance network.

The Niobiy-SV system is particularly crucial for enabling early warning and feeding targeting data into systems like the S-300V and Buk-M2. Without it, russian missile crews are forced to rely on older, less capable radars, shrinking their detection range and creating blind spots across multiple sectors of the front. Ukrainian commanders have previously noted that disabling these radars often triggers a cascade of tactical errors on the russian side.

By targeting radars and launchers simultaneously, Ukrainian intelligence appears to be pursuing a strategy aimed at systemic erosion rather than isolated destruction. The removal of both "eyes" and "hands" of russia's air defense network significantly weakens its ability to respond to incoming strikes, clear the sky for Ukrainian aviation, and protect logistics or command hubs deeper in temporarily occupied territory.
