For the second time we are talking about a patrol ship of project 22160, but not about a ship of "Buyan-M" project, which is a carrier of the Kalibr cruise missiles

On Friday, October 13, Another warship of the Black Sea Fleet of the russian federation was damaged at the roadstead of the temporarily occupied Sevastopol. This is evidenced by videos and photos circulating on the Internet.

They show a project 22160 patrol ship with smoke billowing above it. In addition, it is known that local residents heard the sound of a powerful explosion.

It should be noted that information has already spread in the mass media that this is Buyan-class corvette, that is a carrier of the Kalibr cruise missiles, but in the photo it is a project 22160 patrol ship.

It is also reported that minesweepers headed to the the roadstead of Sevastopol, ath well as the wounded were evacuated from the damaged ship by helicopter.

This is the second case of damage to a ship of this class in the last few days. In particular, on Wednesday, October 11, information appeared that the russian Pavel Derzhavin patrol ship of project 22160 was blown up by a naval mine on the external roadstead of the temporarily occupied Sevastopol. This information was confirmed by the spokesman of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Captain 3rd rank Dmytro Pletenchuk.

Thus, we can currently observe that, most likely, Ukraine’s Navy have begun to work very fruitfully to ensure that similar "incidents" happen to ships of the Black Sea Fleet of the russian federation regularly.

We would like to add that there are four project 22160 patrol ships in the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation: "Vasily Bykov", "Dmitry Rogachev", "Pavel Derzhavin" and "Sergei Kotov". The ship's main armament is a 76-mm AK-176MA naval gun. Despite the fact that the russian federation declared the possibility of installing a module with a cruise missile launcher on a ship, which should be installed in the stern, currently these ships are not equipped with it.

Update:

On October 13, 2023, Russia’s patrol ship Pavel Derzhavin was hit for the second time (but not the second ship in a raw) and moved several kilometers away.

The relevant statement was made by Spokesperson for the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Captain 3rd rank Dmytro Pletenchuk in a commentary to Ukrinform.

“The patrol ship Pavel Derzhavin was hit for the second time and left the scene of the incident. It sailed several kilometers away. We are waiting for further actions,” Pletenchuk told.
