According to Valahia News five F-16 aircraft of the Royal Netherlands Air Force landed on Tuesday, November 7, at the Romanian Air Force 86th Air Base "Lieutenant Aviator Gheorghe Mociorniță" in Fatesti, Romania.

The relatively new Block 20 MLU version of fighters which were produced in 1986-1991, are equivalent to the Block 50/52, arrived in Romania.

Besides, the insignia of the Royal Netherlands Air Force were removed from the Dutch fighter jets, which may mean that these planes will be transferred to Ukraine in the future.
Under the cooperation agreement, the Romanian Ministry of Defense provides the 86th Air Base, training facilities and support for Ukrainian pilots. The Netherlands is donating aircraft, and Lockheed Martin (an American aerospace, arms, defense, information security and technology corporation) has committed to provide instructors and maintenance.

The F-16 Block 20 MLU is a full-fledged multifunctional fighter that can perform a range of tasks. The F-16 Block 20 MLU differs from the base aircraft with new avionics as well as replaced the Airborne Interception radarwith the AN/APG-66(V)2A radar, which is 7 times faster than the base version. The updated F-16 can conduct air combat at ranges of over 100 km and use a wide range of high-precision weapons.
The aircraft also received a new onboard computer, updated electronic warfare, navigation, and communication systems, a low-altitude flight system as well as an updated cockpit with new displays, including projection and helmet-mounted displays.
