The next stage of the defence reform is the transfer of the management processes of the Armed Forces to a new doctrinal base by 2022, - Andrii Taran

The transfer of command and control processes and the principles of functioning of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to a new doctrinal base by the end of 2022 is an ambitious goal of the stage of the defence reform which has just begun.

This was emphasized on November 24, by the Minister of Defence of Ukraine Andrii Taran during a video conference with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Ukraine Larisa Galadza.

The head of the Defence Ministry stressed that this goal requires the training of specialists capable of acting in accordance with its provisions.

He also added that a new style of military leadership, a new philosophy of relations in military teams, as well as a change in military culture should be introduced in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Minister of Defence of Ukraine noted that a clear example of Canada's support for the defence reform and efforts to achieve this goal is the implementation of the Agreement on Cooperation in Institutional Defence Reform, signed on August 19 between the defence ministries of both countries.

Moreover, during the conversation, the Canadian side presented the project PROTECT, which will strengthen institutional capacity and invest in human resources in order to further implement Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic aspirations.

Andrii Taran thanked the Government of Canada and personally Larisa Galadza for their continued support of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Ukraine in implementing the defence reform in accordance with NATO standards.
