​The Commander of Ukraine’s Ground Forces Says Ukrainian Troops Close to Tactically Encircling Bakhmut

The Armed Forces of Ukraine are advancing on the flanks in the suburbs of Bakhmut city, Donetsk region, and close to taking the city in a tactical encirclement

That is according to Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel General Oleksandr Syrskyi, Ukrinform reports citing Military Media Center.

As the Commander states, Ukraine’s forces are now controlling a small part of Bakhmut, but its defense is very important, as this allows them to enter the city immediately as the situation changes.

Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has visited frontline positions near the city of Bakhmut

"We continue advancing on the flanks in the suburbs of Bakhmut and are actually close to tactically encircling the city. Thanks to this, we will be able to control all high-rise buildings seized by the enemy and gradually decimate them. This deprives the enemy of control over the approaches to the city and gives us certain tactical benefits," Oleksandr Syrskyi noted.

In his words, the actions of the Ukrainian military and the procedure for destroying the enemy were discussed in detail with the commanders.

"The situation is challenging but controlled," the Commander of Ukraine’s Ground Forces stressed.

Colonel General Oleksandr Syrskyi also posted on his Telegram on Sunday that he had visited frontline positions near the city of Bakhmut, where he thanked troops defending the area.

In his post, Oleksandr Syrskyi also said Ukrainian forces were continuing their advance along the flanks of the ruined city.

Colonel-General and Commander of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Hero of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi commanded the operation to defend Kyiv and the Kyiv region. He also commanded the successful Kharkiv counteroffensive. Now Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi also is Commander of the Khortytsia Operational-Strategic Grouping acting on the East of Ukraine and is in charge of Bakhmut direction (including).
