SSU Drones Attack russia's Largest Primorsk Oil Terminal

The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) drones struck several key targets in russia affecting its oil industry

On the night of September 12, SSU drones attacked several key targets in russia, including the largest oil terminal, Primorsk, in the Leningrad region. According to some reports, the strikes sparked fires on a ship and at a pumping station, forcing a temporary suspension of oil shipments. The suspension of exports could cost the russian budget an estimated $41 million daily.

This was reported by the spokesman for the Ukrainian Volunteer Army, Serhii Bratchuk.

Primorsk is a key hub for loading the shadow fleet, which russia uses to bypass sanctions and sell oil on foreign markets. Each year, about 60 million tons of oil pass through the terminal, generating roughly $15 billion for the Kremlin.

In addition to this terminal, SSU drones struck several oil pumping stations — NPS-3, NPS Andreapol, and NPS-7 — which are part of the main pipeline supplying crude oil to the Ust-Luga terminal.

Military facilities were also targeted. In Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Krasnodar Krai, an airfield hosting russian Shahed drones was attacked, sparking a fire. In Penza, the Elektropribor plant, which produces equipment for military use, was also hit.

russian sources claim that air defense forces shot down up to 30 drones over the region, but fires at the port are still being extinguished. Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg has temporarily suspended operations, with some flights canceled or rescheduled, and debris has been reported in Tosno.

Local Telegram channels report explosions in the Leningrad region, while the russian Ministry of Defense claims that 221 Ukrainian drones were allegedly shot down across the country. Explosions also occurred near Moscow overnight, prompting air defense forces to allegedly shoot down nine drones heading toward the russian capital.
