Ukrainian FPV drone crew has struck russian Spirit-030 satellite internet terminal on the Huliaipole axis

Ukrainian forces have struck a rare russian satellite communications terminal on the Huliaipole axis, reportedly disrupting a system used by russian troops to maintain internet connectivity near the front line.

The strike was carried out by an FPV drone crew from the 2nd Battalion of Unmanned Systems of Ukraine's 1st Regiment. The unit reported the destruction of russian Spirit-030 portable satellite internet terminal.

According to the regiment, the Spirit-030 is a compact satellite communications system equipped with an antenna measuring only 30 centimeters in diameter.

Its small size makes the terminal significantly harder to detect and potentially allows russian forces to deploy it closer to frontline positions without attracting immediate attention.

Russian forces began deploying such terminals on a large scale after March 2026, when they lost access to Starlink.

This suggests that Moscow has been seeking alternative satellite communication solutions to maintain internet connectivity and battlefield communications.
