Five missiles hit main 140x140m production hall of russia's second-largest microelectronics plant during shift change

russia's Kremniy El microelectronics manufacturing plant in Bryansk serving russian military-industrial complex needs can objectively be considered destroyed, not simply struck or attacked, after a massive precision strike using Storm Shadow cruise missiles. Restoring even part of its technological processes will take years, if deemed feasible at all. There are several very important reasons for this.

It should be understood that five cruise missiles flew directly into the main production building of Kremniy El plant, measuring approximately 140 by 140 meters. It is worth recalling that the Storm Shadow BROACH-type warhead weighing 450 kg first penetrates the first obstacle using a shaped charge, then the main warhead detonates inside the facility.

Additional strike videos filmed by Bryansk residents also allowed OSINT community CyberBoroshno to determine that two more missiles struck two smaller production buildings.

The community also published a satellite image proving more than significant destruction scale.

At the same time, semiconductor production at Kremniy El plant, considered russia's second-largest microelectronic component manufacturer, was conducted on foreign high-precision, expensive and very sensitive equipment with observance of ultra-strict standards even regarding air purity. This is not an exaggeration but a feature of such product manufacturing.

Specifically, the most high-tech production at the facility was conducted in special boxes with specified microclimate and requirement for dust content of 1 particle per 1 liter of air.

The photo above shows MLA 150 Maskless Aligner lithographic instrument from German Heidelberg Instruments, with approximate cost over $300,000 (in 2021 prices) at Kremniy El. Production equipment of precisely this class was installed at the plant quite actively in the 2010s, through injection of significant state funds into the facility.

However, production occurred not only on new production lines with foreign equipment. A significant portion of processes for producing outdated component base at 1980s level was conducted on corresponding Soviet equipment from that same period. Although it is significantly less sensitive, questions regarding its restoration and repair possibility are also very relevant due to its obsolescence and closure of manufacturer plants.

Additionally, despite the facility belonging to advanced russian microelectronics production, manufacturing processes continued requiring significant numbers of workers. Even as of 2021, over 1,500 people worked at the facility. With the plant's transition to multi-shift regime even more.

As russians themselves lament, the strike came when this microelectronics production facility, used specifically in russian cruise and ballistic missiles, had a shift change. At the same time, no air raid alert was announced.

At the same time, Bryansk local authorities remain silent about the fate of persons who participated in producing weapons russians use for targeted strikes on residential buildings in Ukrainian cities.
