As fighting intensifies in Vovchansk, russian forces have turned to underground warfare, attempting to connect their positions with tunnels beneath the city. Alongside these tactics, they are also deploying makeshift drones modeled after Ukraine’s Vampire heavy strike UAV, constructed from improvised materials.
This information was shared by a serviceman from the 34th Separate Motorized Infantry Battalion of the 57th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade during a live broadcast on Suspilne News.

“The enemy has shifted to underground operations, they are digging tunnels between buildings where they have established firing positions. They are also trying to get as close as possible to our infantry to suddenly and quickly launch active offensive actions,” he stated.
In addition to their tunnel operations, russian forces are actively employing fiber-optic FPV drones and crude replicas of Ukrainian strike drones.
“The enemy has constructed an analog of the Baba Yaga [Vampire] drone – it’s literally two wooden planks and four FPV drones carrying anti-tank mines, which they drop on buildings and our positions,” Ukrainian serviceman said.
