russian propaganda media reported that a contract for the construction of two more large landing ships of project 11711 is to be signed by the end of this year. It is known that they will be made in a modernized version.
It should be recalled that the Ivan Gren class large landing ships of Project 11711 were developed by the Nevskoe Design Bureau. They are a further development of the Tapir-class landing ship of Project 1171.

Initially, russians wanted to build six ships in this series, but later this number was reduced to two. The Ivan Gren lead ship was laid down in December 2004. The commissioning was planned for 2008, but the project was frozen due to some problems.
Finally, it was launched in 2012. Six years later, in 2018, it was handed over to the customer. The second ship called Pyotr Morgunov was built faster. It was laid down in 2015, launched in 2018, and handed over to the customer in 2020. Both ships are part of the Northern Fleet's 121st Landing Ship Brigade.

These ships are designed for landing operations. But in 2021, russian propagandists began talking about these ships as a "wunderwaffe" for conducting mine warfare at sea. In this way, they recognized that they would not be able to use their newest landing ships for their intended purpose.
Despite the fact that initially the russian federation wanted to limit itself to two ships, in 2019 two more ships were laid down. These are Vladimir Andreyev and Vasily Trushin. They have got an increased displacement to 8,000 tons (compared to 6,600 tons in previous ships). Accordingly, the ability to transport landing force, equipment, etc. was increased as well as the superstructure was changed.
Earlier Defense Express reported that russia had moved 1670-ton ship to Ochamchire port.
