On December 8, 2023, around 6:00 am, russia fired 19 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles from Tu-95MS bombers.
Seven bombers took off from the Saratov region and launched the missiles. Some targeted infrastructure in the Dnipropetrovsk region, while others changed direction and headed towards Kyiv.
Ukrainian air defense forces managed to shoot down 14 of the missiles before they reached their targets. Five missiles hit Dnipropetrovsk, and one hit Kyiv.
The attack damaged several infrastructure facilities in Dnipropetrovsk and destroyed a residential building in Kyiv. One person was killed and several others were injured in Kyiv.
This missile attack shows that russia continues its aggressive policy against Ukraine and has no intention of ending the war.
The Kh-101/Kh-555 missiles are long-range, air-launched cruise missiles with a range of up to 5,500 kilometers. They are equipped with high-precision guidance and can carry nuclear or conventional warheads.
