Poland will move a thousand of its military personnel to the border with Belarus in order to provide assistance to its border security forces. The announcement was made by the head of the Ministry of Defense of Poland, Mariusz Blaszczak, during a Radio Jedynka broadcast on Thursday, August 10.
Mariusz Blaszczak stated that there will be a total of approximately 10,000 military personnel present at the border. Among them, 4,000 will directly support the border guards, while the remaining 6,000 will be in reserve. The Minister emphasized that this action aims to “deter any potential aggressor and prevent them from attacking our territory”.

It’s worth noting that the tension at the Polish-Belarusian border has significantly escalated following an incident on August 1. During this incident, Belarusian Mi-8 and Mi-24 helicopters violated the state border by entering the vicinity of the Polish settlement of Bialowieza.
Later, it became known that Wagner Group mercenaries, positioned in Belarus, are being concentrated opposite the Suwalki corridor. Their numbers in that area could exceed 4,000 and, according to some sources, even reach as high as 10,000.
According to Polish experts, potential scenarios for the actions of the Wagner Group at the border with Poland could involve both provocations and the stoking of anti-Ukrainian sentiments through acts of terrorism and other means.
