A successful drone attack at a distance of more than 800 kilometers disabled one of the largest oil refineries in russia. It was LLC Lukoil Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez in the city of Kstovo, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast.

This attack was quite important because, as of 2022, this enterprise processed 15 million tons of oil, which was about 5% of russia's total refining.
Moreover, this plant became one of the first targets of sanctions against russia. On January 4, 2024, another catalytic cracking unit went out of service due to a breakdown of compression equipment.
In total, there are only two such units at this enterprise. According to russian reports, it could not be repaired quickly because Western components should be ordered. But russia does not have such an opportunity. Thus, this attack may completely shut down this russian oil refinery.

This is not the first time when Ukraine has attacked russian refineries. The most common targets were oil processing units. It is known that losses from these attacks have already reached millions of dollars.
In addition, other russian facilities were attacked by drones that night. In particular, a drone hit oil depot in the city of Oryol.
There were also reports of explosions and attempts of russian air defense to repel drone attacks in Kursk, Voronezh, and Belgorod Oblasts.

Earlier Defense Express reported that Ukrainian Intelligence had provided detailed account of operation Boyko towers in the Black Sea.
