NASAMS surface-to-air missile system is an example of a system whose combat capability is virtually impossible to maintain without the United States

One possible scenario for maintaining the flow of American weapons to Ukraine at the required scale, despite Donald Trump's clear stance against new military aid packages, is a mechanism in which European countries purchase weapons from the United States and send them to Ukraine.

Against the backdrop of the United States officially announcing the end of global security, explaining that Europe must solve its problems on its own, Norway has begun to implement such a mechanism for strengthening Ukraine with weapons under the "buy from the US" formula.

Although it is merely a coincidence, the Norwegian Ministry of Defense announced, following a meeting of the contact group on Ukraine's defense, that it would provide Ukraine with air defense equipment worth NOK 1.2 billion (about $106.5 million). It is stated that these funds will be used to purchase weapons from the United States under the terms of further re-export.

It is not reported what exactly will be purchased, but given Norway's systematic support of Ukrainian air defense in the form of NASAMS SAM systems, it can be assumed that AIM-120 and AIM-9 missiles will be involved. Given that these are air-to-air missiles, this also pertains to the F-16's armament.

It is also possible that this concerns the purchase of additional radars used in NASAMS – the AN/MPQ-64 Sentinel. Like the missiles, these radars are manufactured by Raytheon. Therefore, without the United States, maintaining NASAMS' combat capability is an unrealistic prospect.

What exactly and in what quantity will be purchased may become known in the near future, as the Pentagon publishes information about such contracts.

Earlier Defense Express reported that Norway had contributed 186 million pounds to Ukraine’s navy, air defense and system support.
