Bulgaria is preparing a new package of military aid for delivery to Ukraine. The entire cargo is transferred in one go, and for that purpose the USA and Great Britain will allocate "more than nine" C-17 Globemaster military transport aircraft. The details were revealed by Bulgarian Minister of Defense Dimitar Stoyanov on local television.
Stoyanov said the previous three packages of military aid contained helmets and body armor for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The caretaker government of Bulgaria provided 35,000 sets of clothes and shoes for the defenders of Ukraine, and 350 medical kits for the care of 35,000 wounded.

This new military aid package that requires nine C-17 planes at once, will provide weapons for the Ukrainian military servicemen currently undergoing training in Poland.
However, as noted by Stoyanov, he couldn’t disclose the nomenclature of these weapons. In addition, he informed that Bulgaria was "too late with modernization" of its army. That is why, for example, it cannot supply its S-300 long-range SAM systems, which are the cornerstone of Ukraine’s air defense.
On the part of Defense Express, we’d like to note that British C-17 have already been involved in supply missions for the sake of Ukraine. Most probably, those were the planes used to transfer 50,000 rounds of 122mm artillery ammunition from Pakistan to Ukraine in August 2022.

Meanwhile, Bulgaria does not possess any large or medium transport aircraft, only three C-27J Spartan light tactical airlifters and two L-410 short-range planes.
According to The Military Balance 2022, Bulgaria has only 8 S-300 systems but at the same time possesses 12 older S-200V missile launchers.
