The second military transport aircraft C-17 of the Royal Canadian Air Force arrived to Ukraine with Canadian lethal military aid on Wednesday, February 23. It was sent by the decision of the Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau and the support of the Minister of Department of National DefenseAnita Anand to strengthen Ukraine's defense and deter russian aggression of Ukraine

"Today, our Canadian Forces made a second delivery of lethal military aid to support our Ukrainian partners. Russia’s further invasion of a sovereign state is absolutely unacceptable, and we will continue to stand by Ukraine as the country defends its sovereignty and independence." - Minister of Department of National Defense of Canada Anita Anand posted on Twitter – Defense Express reports.

The first batch of weapons from Canada arrived in Ukraine on Saturday, February 5. That time Canadian C-177 Globemaster plane delivered to Ukraine non-lethal military equipment non-lethal weapons. Canadian instructors were also on the board.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine thanked the Government and people of Canada for their support.

“The Armed Forces of Ukraine are grateful to the Canadian government and people of Canada for supporting Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders, including Crimea,” - was said on General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine official account in Facebook.

As a reminder, Canada pledged to hand over more than $7 million worth of lethal weapons to Ukraine this month. Since 2015, Canada has provided over $23 million dollars in non-lethal military equipment to Ukraine. That equipment included items such as: communications systems used for field operations, a mobile field hospital, and explosive disposal equipment. During this time, Canadian troops have also trained around 33,000 Ukrainian military and security personnel in a range of tactical and advanced military skills.

In addition, civilian and military personnel from the Department of National Defence and the CAF have been supporting key elements of Ukraine’s defence reform process, such as democratic accountability and civilian oversight of defence and security institutions.
