During the hearings in the Senate on Thursday, May 11, the head of the US Department of Defense, Lloyd Austin, revealed more information on when the American Abrams tanks will strengthen the Armed Forces of Ukraine - this is reported by the Voice of America.
According to the media, the US has "moved several tanks to the training ground so that the Ukrainians can begin training" - and by the time they are completed, the vehicles will be available for operation, the head of the Pentagon says. "According to our forecasts, this will happen at the beginning of the autumn," says Lloyd Austin.

Separately, he emphasizes that the deadline for the transfer of more than three dozen tanks is quite significant, because the USA is not only transferring the vehicles, but also preparing the infrastructure to support the operation of Abrams in Ukraine.
Thus, the terms of delivery of Abrams tanks eventually shifted in a positive direction for Ukraine, given that earlier information was announced that these tanks could arrive in Ukraine in 2024.
At the end of April, it became known that Ukrainian tankers should start training on the American Abrams already in the summer. At the same time, it was reported that 250 Ukrainian soldiers will be trained at once, and this may well hint that there may actually be more tanks.
It was also previously reported what exact version of the Abrams tanks will strengthen the Armed Forces of Ukraine - it will be the M1A1 SA, which is currently in use in the US Army, and this is actually one of the best possible options for Ukraine.
