Despite the ban on the export of Ukrainian weapons, the Estonian Ministry of Defense is interested in purchasing arms from Ukraine

Today, the production capacity of Ukraine's defense industry far exceeds the financial capacity to procure weapons for its Defense Forces. Unblocking the export of weapons and military equipment remains a hot topic. This would help companies realize their potential and, through foreign orders, gain more opportunities to expand production and improve their own products.

This is publicly discussed not only in Ukraine but also abroad. Notably, in October this year, Estonian Minister of Defense Hanno Pevkur stated that Tallinn was considering purchasing Ukrainian weapons. Given the export ban, he suggested "workarounds," such as establishing joint ventures in Estonia.

Pevkur emphasized that long-range missiles could be of interest to the Estonian army, probably hinting at the Neptune missile by Ukrainian Luch Design Bureau. Cooperation with the Ukrainian defense industry would be beneficial due to the lower cost of products and their use directly on the battlefield.

According to Defense News, Estonia remains interested in Ukrainian weapons and hopes to reach an agreement that would simplify their purchase and circumvent the export ban.

The publication quotes a representative of the Ministry of Defense of Estonia, Eleka Rugam-Rebane, who emphasized the value and quality of Ukrainian weapons tested in combat. "Export bans will not pose a barrier if countries reach mutual agreements, and such cooperation would benefit both Estonian and Ukrainian defense industries," she said.
