Although in reality the delay may not be so significant, because the parties have allegedly already almost agreed on all the stumbling blocks

Croatia was supposed to start receiving used Bradley infantry fighting vehicles from the US this year, but they risk being delayed, Jutarnji list reports.

As a reminder, at the beginning of 2022, Croatia agreed to immediately purchase 89 used American Bradley infantry fighting vehicles in the M2A2 ODS version within the framework of the agreement worth $196 million, of which almost $51 million would be donated by the United States, and the Croatians would allocate $145.3 million directly for the purchase.

Of these vehicles, 62 will be in a fully combat version, five will be in version for training and another 22 will be spare parts donors. Also, as part of this agreement, the United States allocates 11 million dollars for the overhaul and modernization of IFVs, which will take place directly in Croatia at the factory of the Đuro Đaković holding in a cooperation with BAE Systems.

According to preliminary plans, as the publication tells, the beginning of the delivery of vehicles to the plant where it is planned to modernize these armored vehicles should have started at the end of this year, but judging by everything, the vehicles will arrive in Croatia already next year.

The video is illustrative

In general, the situation with these vehicles was as follows - specialists from the Croatian army have already selected the IFVs, and they actually already belong to the Croats, but before sending them to the country, it is necessary to agree on the prices for equipment and modernization with the manufacturers, and this should be done by the US Army on behalf of Croatia.

It was possible to come to an agreement with the manufacturers of means of communication and other equipment, but in its turn BAE Systems currently does not agree to the price that was proposed for the modernization of the vehicles, because the company wants to receive the price that was agreed for the "Ukrainian market" - while the US Army plans to achieve the lowest possible price for the modernization.

Although there are no details about these negotiations, it is noted that they seem to be coming to an end, and in general, the IFVs should be delayed for several months and will start arriving in Croatia already in the first quarter of 2024.
