Captured Russian tanks are sent to strengthen Ukrainian units. Some of these tanks are not suitable for night operations, so they will be modified

The Armed Forces of Ukraine are already using and will use even more armored vehicles seized from the enemy. The equipment was abandoned by the Russian occupiers due to the fear for their own lives and lack of fuel. In some cases, it had been hit but didn't require significant efforts to recover.

According to Defence Express, there are already several hundred russian tanks seized like this, such as T-72, T-80, and more. This number was confirmed to our agency by one of the representatives of the Ukrainian defense industry. Interestingly, this number is much higher than reported on various information resources that cite the losses of the russian army.

Currently, specialists of "Ukroboronprom" armored enterprises and private defense enterprises are carrying out repair work and adjusting the captured russian armored vehicles, in cooperation with the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

At the same time, a new geographical and industrial partnership is being built. This process happens while taking into account the enemy's efforts to launch missile and bomb strikes – in particular, on the facilities of armored enterprises.

The new cooperation and relocation of repair and production facilities should minimize the threat from the aggressor's actions. Nevertheless, the measures on the repair of equipment are conducted, the expects told our agency and provided some details.

Besides, as the analysis of samples of Russian armored vehicles shows, a notably large number of Russian tanks are not adapted to combat operations at night. For example, such as mainly regular T-72A/B tanks, which were deployed by the enemy to fight in Ukraine and had not undergone modernization, unlike T-72B3 (by the way, these are also among the samples of Russian arsenal, seized by Ukrainian soldiers).

"There is a task for our defense industry, which is already underway. By that meant, in cooperation with repair crews, primarily with domestic private companies, to quickly equip the captured tanks with our serial thermal imaging devices so that our tankers could destroy the enemy day and night," the representatives of the Ukrainian defense industry informed Defense Express.
