Ukraine-based Infozahyst Research and Production Center has announced an update of the capabilities of its system called Pluton. The company doesn't reveal the new features but reminds that the Pluton provides automatic detection and warning of the presence of enemy drones at distances up to 70 km, depending on the target altitude.

"The company is constantly working on improving its equipment. This is especially relevant in conditions when the enemy is also developing and trying to find weak points in the Ukrainian defense and conduct reconnaissance of our facilities deep in the Ukrainian territory," Infozahyst press service points out on its Facebook page.

The Pluton is primarily intended for deployment near strongholds, ammunition depots, artillery positions, airfields, and other locations of critical importance.

Speaking of airfields, the capability of timely detection of enemy drones is especially important, considering the russian invasion forces use their long-endurance UAVs to fly more than 100 km deep into Ukraine's territory to gather intel on Ukrainian aircraft positions and adjust fire for Iskander missile strikes based on their findings.

Infozahyst also notes that Pluton is equally effective at spotting small FPV drones, and the user can customize the operating frequency range depending on their needs.

Moreover, Pluton can now interact with another development of the company, the Plastun-RP-3000M direction finding system. Combined, these systems gain a "significant increase" in the level of automation in their detection and classification of enemy drones.

On a reminder from Defense Express, the Pluton drone detector was revealed for the first time in 2023. The system consists of an antenna, an amplifier, a controller unit and a signal processing unit.

In February 2024, Pluton confirmed the declared specifications on the battlefield, and the company said it would keep upgrading the system taking into account the feedback directly from the military personnel working with their equipment, a cooperation that had already resulted in positive improvements to both the hardware and software of this dronefinder kit.
