The German concern has already increased its production capacity and is ready to supply Leopard 2 tanks with the necessary ammunition, which Germany and other countries will transfer to Ukraine

Ukrinform reports this citing DW that a publishing an answer of Rheinmetall in respond of Rheinische Post newspaper's request.

"Rheinmetall is ready for this and has significantly increased in advance its capacity for the production of ammunition, especially large-caliber ammunition," the company said in response to a request from the Rheinische Post newspaper.

Rheinmetall also said it had invested and continues to invest heavily in increasing the number of employees and creating new production facilities, likely referring to the construction of a new munitions plant. "We are doing everything to support Ukraine, as well as NATO and the federal government, including with the necessary ammunition," the company said.

According to the report, the increase in capacity will allow the company to meet the ammunition needs of both the Bundeswehr and the defense forces of other countries that have Leopard 2 tanks.

The HE DM11 shell by Rheinmetall is principally used for engaging non-armoured and lightly armoured vehicles, antitank positions (both dug-in and in the open) and field fortifications.

As Defense Express reported, German government took a decision to send Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine and approve their re-export from partner countries on Wednesday. We also wrote, that U.S. President Joe Biden officially announced that day too, that the United States is sending 31 Abrams tanks and other military equipment to Ukraine.
