Polish rocket engineers are conducting an interesting development of a multi-purpose device - what result do they expect from it

The idea of creating a small-sized carrier rocket that in the future can be used not only for civilian but also for defense needs looks, at least, interesting. This is the path that Polish military engineers have taken, who have already successfully tested just such a development.

This development does not yet have a specific name, but its caliber of 300 millimeters looks, at the very least, unusual as well as indicates the potential military purpose of this product.

The Polish portal ZBiAM writes that on April 15, 2025, at the Polish Air Force training ground near the city of Ustka, a consortium consisting of Polish enterptises Military Aircraft Works No. 1 (the lider), Military Institute of Armament Technology and Special production plant "GAMRAT" successfully tested a single-stage launch vehicle with a launch mass of 280 kilograms, which can carry a payload of 40 kilograms.

The rocket reached an altitude of 100 kilometers, while its maximum speed was over 620 meters per second. The main purpose of the launch was to test the operation of the launch vehicle's onboard systems.

This single-stage 300-mm launch vehicle is only a stage in the development that should end with the creation of a Polish light suborbital three-stage launch vehicle, the "civilian" purpose of which will be to launch a "research payload" into a given orbit.

The defense objective of this development is to create a technological base for the future Polish anti-aircraft missiles as well as long-range missiles for destroying ground targets. In this case, the future suborbital launch vehicle should act as a tool for developing the necessary technologies.

It is worth adding that the above-mentioned Polish Special production plant "GAMRAT" specializes in the development of solid rocket fuels, which, in turn, will be necessary for the deployment of missile weapons production at the facilities of the Polish defense industry.

As Defense Express reported, Poland and South Korea Established Joint Venture to Build Rockets For "HIMARS Rival" Chunmoo. We also wrote, that Poland Mastered Launch Tube Manufacturing As a Milestone Toward Local Patriot Production.
