National Police of Ukraine has published a video of its servicemen ambushing a Shahed-136 drone, as it flies over Kyiv on the morning of October 17. According to a deputy head of the local police department Oleksii Boloshytskyi, who shared the footage, the drone was neutralized successfully.
As Defense Express earlier explained, Iranian-made Shahed-136 is a type of drone that is difficult to detect with a radar but simple to hear as it approaches the target. That is why Ukrainian forces often use small arms fire to destroy them, though some air defense systems are also used.

Later, two servicemen of the patrol police featured in the video, said in the interview to Suspilne that it took around 90-100 shots from an AK-74 rifle to take the Shahed down as it was passing by and began to fall 70 meters away, which is a good result.
"We were lucky, so to say, because if it fell on the road and exploded, we would end up wounded," said the policeman.
During the October 17 attack on Ukraine, russian invasion forces launched 42 drones on multiple cities, 36 of them were successfully destroyed. In the Kyiv attack, 28 were involved, 23 taken down. The rest five hit power supply facilities and residential areas.
