The 2nd Army Corps is understaffed at 8,000 with a full-time servicemen of 15,000 personnel

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported a catastrophic shortage of personnel in the so-called 2nd Army Corps of the so-called "LPR" ("Luhansk People’s Republic"), which is subordinate to the 8th Combined Arms Army of the Armed Forces of the russian federation. And that’s despite constant mobilization in the region.

"Measures of forced mobilization of personnel in the temporarily occupied territory of the Luhansk region are ongoing. The mobilized have weak training and unsatisfactory equipment along with means of protection. At present, the current shortage of units of the 2nd Army Corps of the 8th Combined Arms Army of the Armed Forces of the russian federation is about 8,000 people," the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine says.

Defense Express notes that the number of servicemen of the 2nd Army Corps at the level of 2021 was estimated at 15 thousand people. At the same time, violent mobilization and active involvement of mercenaries began in the "LPR" before the russia’s invasion.

Thus, it is likely that the total number of killed, captured and wounded in the 2nd Army Corps already exceeded its full-time workforce. It also indicates a radical reduction or complete loss of combat capability of the units of this connection, which included four separate motor rifle brigades, an artillery brigade, a motor rifle regiment and separate tank regiment, reconnaissance and special purpose battalions.
