Starmer Proposes Deploying Over 10,000 Western Peacekeepers in Ukraine

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has proposed deploying over 10,000 Western peacekeepers in Ukraine as part of an initiative presented during the "coalition of the willing" meeting

According to The Times, citing a senior British government source, Starmer secured support from "considerably more" countries than the initial three that had proposed sending ground troops. However, the bulk of the forces would likely come from the UK and France.

"Things are quite advanced," the source stated, declining to specify which nations would contribute troops, as such details could "help russia." Nonetheless, the source confirmed that "it will be a significant force with a considerable number of countries providing troops and an even larger group offering support in other ways."

A military source suggested that the deployment would be "comfortably north of 10,000."

Additionally, around 35 countries have already agreed to supply weapons, logistics, and intelligence support as part of the mission, dubbed the "tripwire force." If a ceasefire between russia and Ukraine is reached, this initiative aims to deter vladimir putin from launching another invasion.

Following a meeting of 29 world leaders, Starmer announced that military officials from various countries would gather in London this week, as plans for the multinational peacekeeping force enter the "operational phase."
