Ukraine targets the largest oil terminal on the peninsula, disrupting military supplies

The recent successful Ukrainian attack on an oil depot in Feodosia, Crimea, represents a significant disruption to russian logistics, especially regarding the supply of fuel to its military forces. As noted by the General Staff, this depot is the largest oil terminal on the Crimean Peninsula, playing a critical role in supporting the russian army’s operations.

This strike not only highlights the vulnerability of russia’s logistical infrastructure but also raises serious questions about the effectiveness of its air defense systems. Although previous strikes on russian targets have exposed weaknesses in their anti-aircraft missile systems, Feodosia, unlike deeper regions of russia, is heavily fortified with military and strategic assets.

Just 6 kilometers from the oil depot lies the base of the 18th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment, equipped with the S-400 systems. Despite this proximity, Ukrainian forces managed to successfully target the depot without any recorded engagement from russian air defense systems.

Reports from local residents suggest they did not hear any air defense activity, indicating either a depletion of anti-aircraft systems in the area or a failure of russian personnel to respond. This lack of defense further underscores the growing strain on russia’s air defense capabilities, especially as it faces increasing threats from Western-supplied weaponry.
