Russian occupaton forces suffer heavy losses which call for replenishment. So they mobilize more people in the occupied territories and inside the russian federation

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has released new operational update on the situation on the Ukrainian frontlines as of 18:00 on May 15, 2022. According to it, Russians continue their offensive operations in the Eastern Operational Zone in order to establish full control over the territory of the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson regions, and maintain the land corridor with the temporarily occupied Crimea.

Russian armed forces command is trying to recruit and replenish the losses. They involve reservists for that purpose. Available data indicates 2,500 reserve troops are being trained at landfills in Voronezh, Belgorod and Rostov regions of the russian federation. Senior command plans to deploy them for participation in the war on the Ukrainian territory.

Some other key takeaways from the report:

Russian occupiers suffered significant losses in manpower and equipment, the General Staff states. After intense fighting, less than 20% of the personnel left in units in some areas. For instance, in the Popasna operational direction, "due to heavy losses and inability to act independently", russian airborne troops are teaming up with representatives of russian private military companies in the so-called "combined units" for further action.

In the Kharkiv direction, russian occuiers try to hold their positions and prevent Ukrainian advance towards the state border of Ukraine. In this direction, russians use mobilized units, formed in the temporarily occupied territories of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

Intense shelling of Ukrainian positions continues in the Donetsk direction. The invaders try to gain a foothold in the occupied positions and replenish stocks of ammunition, fuel and oil.

Russian occupiers used heavy flamethrower systems in the Avdiivka direction.

In Mariupol, russians continue blocking the Ukrainian defenders on the Azovstal steel plant. Massive artillery and airstrikes are launched on the facility.
