Over the past weeks Ukraine got a bit of all the most important types of weaponry it needs, including dozens of thousands 155mm artillery shells

The German government has updated the list of weapons transferred to Ukraine as military aid against the russian invasion. The provisions delivered since the last update on May 22nd include various armored vehicles, High-Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS) in transit from the United States, ammunition, and other equipment. Note: these are not new commitments or allocations but a detailed report on the delivery of those announced previously.

20 Marder infantry fighting vehicles were handed at once, as part of a transfer process beginning way back in 2023, proceeding in batches. Most likely, these 20 vehicles are the ones Berlin asked Rheinmetall to bring back to combat-ready shape in January 2024. Another type of armored vehicles delivered is the 10 Leopard 1A5 tanks which are being additionally armored in Ukraine by traditional methods.

Tanks and IFVs come with associated ammunition, alongside the 21,000 rounds for 155mm artillery guns. Infantry will get 285 small arms: a hundred MK 556 and a hundred CR 308 assault rifles, plus 85 HLR 338 sniper guns, as well as 4 million cartridges for all these.

Engineering vehicles arrived, too: one Bergepanzer 2 armored recovery vehicle, four WiSENT demining plows, two Biber mobile bridges and two Pionierpanzer 2A1 Dachs engineering vehicles. There are 16 Zetros tank trucks, too.

Two more IRIS-T air defense systems were delivered: one being the Surface-Launched Medium-range (SLM), and the other is the Surface-Launched Short-range (SLS). Their arrival was announced on May 25th this year, now recorded accordingly.

The SLM version ensures the destruction of air threats within a 40-km range but is a system of several vehicles. The other, SLS, can cover only a range of 12 km around but is an all-in-one vehicle. The totality of these systems in service with the Ukrainian forces is four IRIS-T SLM and two IRIS-T SLS units according to the official list.

Besides, three M142 HIMARS rocket artillery systems were handed over — those Berlin had ordered from the USA specifically for Ukraine. The sale was agreed in May 2024 with an estimated price of $30 million. Notably, they were sold from the stocks of the U.S. Army, not manufactured from scratch, this is why they arrived so quickly.

Other supplies include 4 anti-drone sensors, type unspecified, three AMPS systems from Hensoldt to protect helicopters from anti-aircraft missiles, 100 night vision goggles, unnamed IT equipment, and rescue boats.
