In a major victory for Ukraine, Belgium has agreed to transfer F-16 fighter jets to the country in 2025. The deal was reached during a meeting between Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov and Belgian Defense Minister Ludivine Dedonder.
“We highly appreciate your unwavering support and comprehensive participation in the process of strengthening the defense capability of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” Rustem Umerov said.
The transfer of F-16 aircraft to Ukraine is a major step forward in the country’s efforts to modernize its Air Force and counter russian aggression. These aircraft are among the most advanced in the world and will provide Ukraine with a much-needed boost in air power.
In addition to F-16 fighters, the two countries also discussed establishing supply chains for ammunition, spare parts and technical equipment for the aircraft. They also agreed to continue working together to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
The total volume of technical assistance from the Kingdom of Belgium to the Armed Forces of Ukraine is over 320 million euros.
