Volsk Military Logistics Institute has developed a new ground-based robotic platform, named Volchanin. This logistics drone can deliver various supplies or evacuate the wounded to the rear. The technology is currently being tested by the russian invasion army on the battlefields in Ukraine, according to Kremlin's media outlets.
Four units have been manufactured, the known specifications include the combat weight of 600 kg, the payload capacity of 500 kg, and the operational range of 30 km. The platform is equipped with the Korshun digital control system using a portable antenna or a drone with repeater function for operation at distances up to 10 km.

One of the developers stated that they use "a channel with a hopping frequency in the 1.5 GHz range" for control and that "you would need an entire electronic warfare vehicle to jam the platform."
Notably, the unmanned ground vehicle was created in cooperation with the Ufa Tram and Trolleybus Plant, highly likely that a fully geared production of the systems was or soon will be established there as well.
This detail echoes multiple previous reports of russian civilian enterprises partaking in mass manufacturing of military systems. For example, the famous producer of rifles, Kalashnikov Group, has recently bought a shopping mall to expand its capacity for making unmanned aerial vehicles. Back in 2023 there was also a telling story about a bread factory in Tambov where FPV drones were assembled.
