At the IDEF 2025 exhibition in Turkey, the company Solid AERO will present a new kamikaze drone called TALAY. Its main feature is that it is a ground-effect vehicle — apparently, the first such drone in this class.
As a reminder, ground-effect vehicles use the so-called air cushion" effect that forms during flight at low altitude over flat surfaces. Compared to airplanes, ground-effect vehicles are more economical and have greater payload capacity. In the case of a kamikaze UAV, this means greater flight range and a heavier warhead in a more compact form.

Due to the design of its wings, TALAY can reach a maximum altitude of only 100 meters. However, this same wing configuration and the ability to land on water allow it to fly at just 30 centimeters above the waves, making it nearly undetectable.
It is equipped with electric engines, which give it a speed of 200 km/h. It is likely controlled via relays at a distance of up to 200 km. TALAY can stay airborne for up to three hours.

But the most important aspect is its warhead, which weighs 30 kg, while TALAY’s total weight is 60 kg. And it seems that thanks to the use of simple materials and accessible technologies in its construction, its cost is quite low.
The company positions this UAV as a solution for attacks on ships at sea and port infrastructure, which is especially relevant in the Black Sea. The attack can be carried out in two modes: in a straight line at ultra-low altitude, or from above, gaining altitude before hitting the target. This was reported by Anadolu.

Defense Express adds that in fact, TALAY may become an excellent solution for such attacks, as detecting it by any means is extremely difficult — possibly only when it’s already near the target.

Moreover, its low cost allows for mass strikes on ports and ships, overwhelming short-range air defense systems.

It is reported that serial production of TALAY is set to begin in October 2026, with the first production units to be delivered to the Turkish Navy in early 2027.
