What kind of X-69 missiles are these, with which the russians terrorize the population of Ukraine, what are the characteristics of these missiles and what can the installation of a cluster warhead on the missile give?

According to the Command of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on the night of Friday, November 8, 2024, the enemy used, among other means, four Kh-69 cruise missiles to attack objects on the territory of Ukraine – all four of them were shot down.

Defense Express learned from its own sources that at least one of these missiles had a cluster warhead. This may mean that the russians continue to install cluster warheads on the Kh-69 subsonic air-launched cruise missiles.

It is worth recalling that the first use of Kh-69 cruise missiles with a cluster warhead was recorded approximately on October 19, 2024, as Defense Express reported in a separate publication.

From the image available at that time, it was possible to conclude that the submunitions in the cluster warhead of the Kh-69 missile have the shape of a ball. In view of this. Defense Express recommends that Ukrainians, if they notice an unknown object in the shape of a ball, do not touch it, but immediately report it to the State Emergency Service.

Data on the number of submunitions in the cluster warhead of the Kh-69 missile as well as the area of their dispertion currently remain unknown. As Defense Express experts note, the Kh-69 missile with such equipment is particularly dangerous, since the russians could put a cluster warhead there precisely with the expectation of causing greater destruction to civilian infrastructure when this missile hits it.

The presence of cluster munitions also significantly complicates recovery work after such a missile has been hit, because the sappers must first find and neutralize the sub-munitions, and only after that it will be possible to move on to other stages of work.

The Kh-69 missile has a range of up to 400 kilometers; the starting mass of the missile is 800 kilograms, the weight of the warhead is 310 kilograms.

For the first time, the Kh-69 was used for strikes on the territory of Ukraine in February 2024.

This type of cruise missile was used by the russians to destroy the Trypilska TPP in April this year.
