Operators from Ukraine’s Raid 413th Battalion, part of the Unmanned Systems Forces, successfully located and destroyed russian Strela-10 short-range surface-to-air missile system in Donetsk region. The engagement occurred during a routine reconnaissance mission involving Ukrainian UAV.
The UAV was detected by russian forces, who immediately launched a missile at the drone. However, the operator managed to avoid the strike through evasive maneuvers, allowing the aircraft to remain operational and continue tracking the threat.

Following the unsuccessful missile launch, russian air defense crew attempted to hide the Strela-10 system in a wooded area. Ukrainian operators, maintaining visual contact, monitored the vehicle as it relocated.
By preserving the UAV and continuing surveillance, the drone operators were able to detect the system as it changed position. Once the target was reacquired in a vulnerable location, a strike was called in and executed with precision.
Ukrainian side claims that the air defense system was successfully hit along with its crew. No additional details were provided regarding the type of munition used or the specific strike platform involved.
The Strela-10, a mobile short-range air defense system mounted on a tracked chassis, is designed to protect ground forces from low-flying aircraft and helicopters. Its destruction further limits the ability of russian troops to counter Ukrainian aerial surveillance and strike operations in the area.
As Defense Express previously reported, during recent fighting near Kupiansk, a fighter from Ukraine's Bratstvo unit, part of the Defense Intelligence's Tymur special unit, held off an enemy assault despite being outnumbered five to one. The incident highlights both the intensity of combat in the area and the challenges Ukrainian forces continue to face along this front.
The Ukrainian fighter's defense was effective enough to delay or disrupt russian assault. In response, russian troops reportedly used banned chemical agents to dislodge him from the position – a violation of international law. This was followed by mortar shelling and repeated FPV drone strikes.
