russian occupation forces are currently testing new types of drones near the front line, which pose a significant danger to both civilians and the military. Specifically, the Molniya and Molniya-2 unmanned aerial systems. The Governor of Kharkiv Oblast, Oleh Syniehubov, stated this in a comment to Novyny.LIVE.
According to him, russians are increasingly using these types of drones to strike the city of Kupiansk and other settlements near the border and the front line.

"However, we see new generations [of drones], which means the enemy is testing them. Our task is to assist the Armed Forces of Ukraine to maximize their response to these new challenges," he added.
The Molniya drones have a body made of basic materials, a fuselage length of approximately 1.3 to 1.5 meters, and a weight of up to 10 kilograms. Its flight range is 30–35 km. At the same time, the modernized variant of this UAV, the Molniya-2, which entered service with the occupier's forces in September 2024, features two engines and a more streamlined body. The flight range was increased to 40–50 kilometers.
Earlier, Defense Express reported that russian Molniya-2 kamikaze drones were equipped with thermobaric warheads.
