russian propaganda media reports, citing the words of the CEO of JSC "Ploshchad" Nikita Maslak, that russia is currently testing a so-called "air defense drone". According to the Russians' plans, this drone should ultimately be no less tactical and technical than anti-aircraft guided missiles.
According to the developers, work is currently underway on the software for the "air defense drone." In particular, according to them, tests and refinement of algorithms are currently being conducted. In their opinion, the effectiveness of intercepting targets using such a drone should be the same as that of anti-aircraft missiles.

However, the russians claim that they encountered a number of problems when creating such drones. In particular, the main problem at the moment is recognizing targets at night, in fog or during rain. Therefore, the russians are now setting themselves the goal of developing an "air defense drone" that could intercept targets in any conditions.
Judging by everything, this is an interceptor drone that the russians plan to use, primarily, against Ukrainian long-range strike drones.
It is also important to note that such development is also relevant for Ukraine, given that the russian federation is increasing the production of both the Shahed type drones, as well as a number of different decoy drones, the main purpose of which is to overload and exhaust the Ukrainian air defense system.
We recall that back in October, several Ukrainian Anti-Shahed Anti-Aircraft Drones were presented at once. Defense Express previously told about the main task that Ukrainian developers solved when creating this type of weapon.

It is also worth noting that Ukraine is currently increasing the range of long-range weapons for strikes deep into the territory of the russian federation by hundreds of kilometers.
In particular, it was recently reported about the testing of the Ruta missile, we previously talked about the characteristics and capabilities of this development.
