From open sources it became known that the russian army units nearby Izium uses a rare Soviet-made ZS-88 machine on the BTR-80 chasis to conduct peculiar hostilities.
ZS-88 is a "self-propelled sound transmission station", equipped with an ancient VM-85K cassette recorder and several megaphones. The claimed range of sound transmission equipment ZS-88 - up to 6 kilometers. Theoretically, during the Soviet era, the ZS-88 was designed to be applied against enemy soldiers. However, in this case russia’s soldiers decided to use in a slightly different way: the anthem of the USSR is played for local residents.
Defense Express noted before that in January 2022 the russians brought two ZS-88 vehicles to Belarus, which apparently later arrived in Ukraine. The location of the second ZS-88 vehicle is still unknown.
