The Haenel HLR 338 rifle joins Ukraine’s arsenal with cutting-edge features for long-range accuracy

Germany has bolstered Ukraine’s defense capabilities by supplying 420 Haenel HLR 338 high-precision sniper rifles as part of its ongoing military aid program. This delivery, reported on the German Federal Government’s official aid website on December 23, also included 314,000 rounds of specialized ammunition for these rifles.

The HLR 338 rifle, introduced in 2023 and already adopted by the Bundeswehr, is designed for precise long-range engagements. Manufactured by CG Haenel, the rifle combines modularity, reduced weight compared to the RS model, and excellent performance. It features an adjustable two-stage trigger with a pull force of 10-20 N (1.0-2.0 kg), ensuring operator customization and safety against accidental discharge.

This rifle is part of a series that includes the HLR 308 Basic version, chambered in .308 Win and 6.5 Creedmoor, underscoring Haenel’s focus on versatile and adaptable firearm solutions.

Germany’s military aid to Ukraine, funded through federal reserves and defense budgets, has amounted to €28 billion to date. This substantial support reflects Germany’s commitment to strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities amid ongoing challenges.
