On September 5, Ukrainian border guards destroyed russian BM-27 Uragan multiple rocket launcher advancing toward Pokrovsk, neutralizing a serious threat to the defenders

On September 5, Ukrainian border guards operating near the settlement of Netailove in Donetsk region successfully destroyed russian BM-27 Uragan multiple rocket launcher before it could be used against Ukrainian positions. The enemy vehicle was reportedly advancing toward Pokrovsk with the intent to breach Ukraine's defensive lines.

The operation was carried out by the Phoenix unit, which managed to strike the target with precision. The Uragan system was completely engulfed in flames and destroyed, neutralizing a significant threat to Ukrainian forces.

The Phoenix unit continues to operate around the clock, monitoring enemy movements and conducting targeted strikes to prevent incursions and protect Ukrainian territory. Their use of drones in combat operations highlights the increasing role of unmanned systems in modern warfare.

The BM-27 Uragan is a Soviet-era multiple rocket launcher mounted on the ZIL-135LM chassis, capable of firing 16 220 mm rockets in just 20 seconds. Such systems are designed to deliver rapid, heavy artillery strikes over a wide area, making them highly dangerous if deployed against defensive positions.

This latest success demonstrates the effectiveness of integrating drone technology with frontline reconnaissance. By detecting and destroying the Uragan system before it could engage, Ukrainian forces prevented potential casualties and infrastructure damage in the region.

As Defense Express previously reported, the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine carried out another masterful operation in the Black Sea, demonstrating the growing reach and effectiveness of Ukraine's special operations forces. Exclusive footage published on DIU's social media shows combat divers and special units at sea engaging russian targets with precision drone strikes.

The operation was conducted by the DIU's Active Operations Department, a specialized branch tasked with offensive raids and sabotage missions. Ukrainian commandos used FPV drones and other combat UAVs to target a variety of russian military equipment deployed in temporarily occupied areas of the Black Sea.
