Ukrainian pilots and air defense forces have once again demonstrated exceptional skill and resilience in countering enemy drone threats. A newly released video from the South Operational Command showcases an intense engagement with russian-iranian unmanned aerial vehicles, underlining the country's evolving tactics in defending its skies.
The footage captures a rare and valuable perspective on Ukraine's multi-layered air defense in action. Viewers can see both airborne and ground-based units responding in real time to the incoming threat. Helicopters maneuver through the night sky, while mobile fire teams on the ground deliver calculated bursts of gunfire, tracking and disabling the hostile drones.

The enemy UAVs in question are part of a growing arsenal of russian-iranian collaboration, widely believed to include the Shahed-type loitering munitions. These drones have been used extensively by russia to target Ukrainian cities, infrastructure, and military positions, often under the cover of darkness to avoid detection.
However, Ukrainian defenders have adapted swiftly. The synchronized efforts between rotary-wing aircraft and mobile fire groups reflect an advanced level of coordination and situational awareness. This hybrid strategy not only increases interception rates but also ensures better coverage across different altitudes and terrains.
As Defense Express previously reported, in a display of coordination and precision, Ukrainian border guards successfully repelled another overnight aerial assault in the south of the country, highlighting their continued vigilance in defending critical infrastructure and civilian lives.
During the latest attack, servicemen from the Odesa Border Guard Detachment and the Maritime Guard of the State Border Guard Service worked together to neutralize a wave of enemy drones. According to official reports, four Shahed-136/131 attack UAVs, launched by russian forces, were intercepted and destroyed before they could reach their intended targets.
