Ukraine became the main importer of Polish weapons, and the main type of Polish exported weapons - artillery systems

Poland is in the first ranks among the countries that transfer weapons as security aid, but Ukraine also makes direct purchases of weapons and military equipment under contracts with Polish arms manufacturers.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland published a report on arms exports for 2022, which covers exactly this part of the cooperation between the two countries, which was analyzed by Polish specialized publication Defense24.

According to еру report, the total amount of arms exports to Ukraine under commercial contracts amounts to EUR 796.76 million.

For this amount were purchased:

• 18 out of 54 AHS Krab self-propelled tracked gun-howitzer ordered

• 60 MT-LB Multi-purpose armored vehicle

• 19 Dzik II armored vehicles

• 1 BRDM-2 amphibious armored scout car

• 70 2S1 Gvozdika self-propelled howitzers

• 89 82-mm mortars

• 4 Grad MLRS

Given that the report covers all exports, it is possible to see some other interesting aspects in it. In particular, Poland formally sold two MiG-29 fighter jets to the USA in 2022. But it is very similar to the fact that the transfer of these aircraft by Warsaw to the Air Force of Ukraine took place with the direct participation of Washington.

As for the Piorun MANPADS, we are talking about the contract that was sighned in February 2022. At that time, the amount and value of the contract were not announced, but it was noted that it was about several hundred units. That is, the shipment of 23 Polish MANPADS to the USA is only the one batch in a raw.

Nor should we be surprised at the export of S-70 Black Hawk helicopters from Poland. The fact is that their assembly is carried out on PZL Mielec, which was acquired by Sikorsky in 2007, which itself became part of Lockheed Martin in 2015.
