Ukrainian drones hit Morozovsk airfield, inflicting serious damage on military infrastructure

On August 3, 2024, the Morozovsk airfield, home to russia’s 559th Guards Bomber Aviation Regiment, was attacked by Ukrainian forces using advanced UAVs. Out of 40 deployed drones, 18 successfully hit their targets, despite russian air defenses.

According to russian sources, the successful strike caused considerable damage:

  • The Su-34 fighter jet (destroyed);
  • Ammunition depot (annihilated);
  • Flight control center (hit);
  • Engineering equipment (suffered minor damage).

As Defense Express previously reported, the satellite image reveals the technical and operational sections of the air base, where aircraft undergo inspection, maintenance and repair. On June 4, five aircraft were observed on the site in front of the facility. These aircraft can be identified as either Su-34 fighter-bombers or Su-30 fighters (with horizontal stabilizers).
