Operators from the Svarog 424th Battalion of Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces have successfully detected and destroyed an experimental russian electronic warfare system known as the KOP-2. The operation, carried out on one of the active front lines, marks another example of Ukraine's growing dominance in countering russian electronic capabilities through precision drone warfare.
According to the Battalion, the KOP-2 system represented russia's latest attempt to develop an effective tool for combating Ukrainian unmanned aerial systems.

The system was designed to scan a wide range of radio frequencies, identify the frequency on which a drone operates, and jam it with a powerful interference signal. In theory, this would allow russian forces to disrupt or disable Ukrainian drones operating in contested airspace.
However, in practice, the KOP-2 system failed to withstand the realities of the battlefield. Ukrainian drone operators swiftly identified the system's location and executed a precise strike that rendered it inoperable. A second strike followed, completely destroying the experimental system and leaving russian forces without one of their rare and costly EW assets.
The Svarog Battalion emphasized that the KOP-2 units are not common and are typically deployed to protect high-value targets, including air defense systems and command centers. Its destruction therefore not only neutralized an immediate tactical threat but also diminished the broader defensive capabilities of russian positions in that sector.
Despite russia's efforts to innovate in electronic warfare, Ukrainian forces continue to find and eliminate these systems using agile reconnaissance, superior tactics, and precision strikes. The success also highlights how quickly Ukrainian units have adapted to electronic threats, using their own unmanned technologies to outmaneuver and disable complex enemy equipment.
As Defense Express previously reported, Ukrainian troops from the 92nd Separate Assault Brigade have successfully detected and destroyed russian Kasta-2E2 radar using the domestically developed SHARK reconnaissance UAV and a loitering munition. The strike, conducted with precision, marks another effective operation aimed at disabling the enemy's radar and surveillance network.
