Ukraine's Primary special unit of the Defense Intelligence has carried out another high-precision strike against russian forces in temporarily occupied Crimea, destroying russian Ka-27 naval helicopter along with several high-value air defense and radar assets. The successful operation represents a significant blow to russia's aerial surveillance and coastal defense capabilities on the peninsula.
The Defense Intelligence released footage on November 21 showing the moments of impact, confirming the destruction of the Ka-27, a shipborne multi-role helicopter widely used for maritime patrol, anti-submarine missions, and search-and-rescue operations. For the Black Sea Fleet, the loss of such an aircraft is both financially painful and operationally disruptive.

In addition to the helicopter, the Primary unit targeted and neutralized several key components of russia's radar network. Among the systems destroyed was the Lira-A10 airfield radar complex, a critical component for coordinating russian aircraft operations. The unit also struck the 55Zh6U Nebo-U radar, a long-range system used to detect aircraft at various altitudes, including low-observable targets.
The operation further eliminated the Nebo-SV radar, housed inside a dome-shaped structure for protection, as well as the P-18 Terek radar a Soviet-designed but still widely used system for early warning and surveillance. The simultaneous destruction of multiple radar stations dramatically reduces the situational awareness and reaction time of russian air defense forces in the region.
One of the most striking elements of the released footage is the moment Ukrainian operators narrowly evade a missile fired from russian Pantsir-S1 air defense system. The drone conducting the strike manages to survive the attempted interception, highlighting both the skill of Ukrainian operators and the growing vulnerability of russian short-range air defense systems to modern UAV tactics.
As Defense Express previously reported, during russian missile attack yesterday, Ukrainian mobile fire group achieved a rare and remarkable success: the interception of the Kalibr cruise missile using a man-portable air defense system. The engagement, carried out with the FN-6 MANPADS, stopped the missile as it flew toward a city in the west of Ukraine.
